The Cobalt Room

Sylvie Ball Take Five 2015 inkjet on canvas 26"H x 20"W Example: subtractive transparency

The Cobalt Room is inspired by a blue themed after hours club formerly located at the old Gramercy Park Hotel called The Cobalt Club - but it is the now the name of my white themed studio. Above, "Take Five" is a digital reinterpretation of a homework assignment for a color theory class taught by Bill Kohn at Washington University in St. Louis. Color Theory was Bill Kohn's specialty. The above artwork is currently on view in a Summer Exhibition curated by Douglas Turner through Labor Day 2015 at The Architecture of Tomorrow located at 159 Hope Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. By appointment.

The ever energetic Bill Kohn taught color theory in the 2nd year of art school at Washington University in St. Louis

His course deviated from Josef Alber's class at Yale in the medium he chose to teach the course with, acrylics, not Color Aid paper swatches.
